1876 A Floating City Translated by Henry Frith. This translation begins: "On the 18th March, 1867, I arrived in Liverpool. The Great Eastern was to sail for New York in a few days, and I came to take my passage in her. A mere traveller for pleasure, a trip across the Atlantic in this gigantic steamship had great attractions for me."
