The front cover, "advertising" on page 1, and the back cover all state this is a novel. However the publication is divided into four named sections "Book One – Seeding Program," "Book Two – The Thing in the Attic," "Book Three – Surface Tension," and "Book Four – Watershed." The copyright page notes that all four sections were previously published in magazines and thus this is a collection [Book 3 was considerably revised from the magazine version].
