• SFE says "1986; with 1 story added, coll 1989 dos [i. e. the Tor Double with UKLG's The New Atlantis which also contained Return from the Rainbow Bridge] - a later but lesser magazine version won the 1987 Nebula."
  In fact there are at least three versions:
  • The original text, which was printed by Cheap Street. (1986)
  • The magazine version, which strips out the details and framework of Desargues' theorem, which in the Cheap Street version introduces the various sections of the story. (1987)
  • The version printed in the Tor Double, which restores (and sometimes revises) the Desargues' theorem framework, and also expands upon the original Cheap Street text. (1989)
