Not, that is, until he is offered an enormous bribe, a voluptuous woman called Djana, and a chance to explore Wayland, a dark and treasure-laden moon. Although the old records claimed it was totally barren, Flandry found Wayland swarming with a hideous race of inhuman creates, each 30 centimeters long, with 10 claw-footed legs, a tail ending in twin spikes, and a head on which half-dozen antennae moved. And what was worse - these strange creatures were infernally controlled by a deranged and brilliant computer brain. Each, like a piece in a bizarre and vicious chess game, was programmed to kill..."
